life I've lived for so long

about to come to an end
Days of happiness were there, indeed
Yet, so was loneliness at day's end
Never will I feel cheated
By the path I've chosen to follow
For, it was His hand that led me to this
As He led me through nature's hollows
Along untrammeled paths I've walked
In the life I've always known
Yet, never have I had a reason for change
Until your love for me was shown
In the back of my dream-filled mind
You've always been alive and well
Throughout my life I've awaited you, princess
And this peaceful feeling, as well
I have never before looked to the future
I've never had a reason to
Yet, now it holds a place in my mind
A meaningful future with you
Recurring daydreams from when I was a boy
Have slowly entered my mind
Of finding a best friend
Who could also be my valentine
No matter where He sends me
No matter what He asks
Never will I fall short of His will
For His gift of you in my life
Is a dream come true from the past
