“Because He Said So”

Why should I give freely
Asking for nothing in return?
Or, walk in the light
When the darkness is so easily learned?
Because He said so

Why should I give up
Everything that I feel brings me pleasure?
The lighted path is so painful
And the darkness yields easy treasure.
Because He said so

Why should I believe
In something I can’t see?
Your so-called “Sin” is bountiful
Here and now for me to take so freely.
Because He said so

Why should I have to suffer?
Why should I spread the word
Of a God that cannot be seen
With a voice that cannot be heard?
Because He said so

Those with ears let him hear
There are but two paths in life
One leads to eternal peace
One leads to hellfire and strife

There is one God, one Trinity
The Creator, The Christ, The Holy Spirit of one faith
There is one person who was baptized, died just for you
And decides your eternal fate
Because He said so
