"Forgotten
Time"
The cool morning forest
Stretching shadows on the ground
Majestic pines and towering oaks
A cleansing essence surrounds
The sparrow welcomes with songs of the years
He reminds you again that you're not alone
Stirring the embers to make a new flame
You marvel at the simple, yet powerful
tone
How strong is the human nature?
How mighty is he that sits there?
Is man really as fast as he thinks?
Grounded, he wonders as the sparrow takes
to the air
His makeshift cabin is his home, now
His wife opens and peeks out the door
As the water boils with sweet sassafras
root
The tea's aroma makes him smile the more
He wonders what was on his mind
When he used to try to gain money and power
He couldn't find the answer as he remembered
Holding his wife amidst last night's April
shower
His young son runs from the oak-timber cabin
To his father, he brings three cups
He smiles and thanks his son as he wife
approaches
Now, he knows there was nothing he'd given
up
He is set upon a rock, tending the fire
His wife sits before him and leans back
into his arms
The hustle is gone and the bustle is forgotten
Now and forever, he will hear the sparrow's
morning alarm
