SEND IN YOUR STORIES !!!

The story list at the bottom of this screen. Just scroll down. If you wish to send in YOUR Land of the Lost story for us to enjoy, then read the guidelines below CAREFULLY. Deviating from the guidelines will either get ayou a return e-mail explainingh what to change, or a quick hit from the DELETE button. The Guidelines are simple.

Story Guidelines for Submission to this Project:

  1. No cursing, safe for all eyes and ears. If you've already written a story and it has a few of those words in there, just change them to "shoot" and "darn" or even "FAT RATS!" and send your story on in! These stories might, even hopefully, be printed to paper and read as bedtime stories. But, don't be afraid to get really scary with your story. They will be quick reads and if the parent or guardian deems them too scary, they can skip that particular story altogether.
  2. E-mail me your story in ONE TEXT FILE. Send it inline with the e-mail or attach a text document to the e-mail. I don't care what kind, I can open them all. For ex. .txt or .doc or.docx or .odt etc...and others. If I Get bits and pieces of a continuing story over a series of e-mails, they will be deleted. Sorry to be so blunt, but I just don't have the time to piece them all together. I will take your one story and spread it out according to our website's format. Thank you for this help in advance.
  3. Your story must be Land of the Lost-related in some way, shape or form. Not just one paragraph about LOTL and the rest way off base.
  4. Be well aware that you cannot be compensated with money for your story. The original story may be yours, but the LOTL setting and characters belong to Sid and Marty. However, fan fiction is a well-read part of the internet for companies looking for good creative writers. Your work will mainly go toward the entertainment of old fans, like me, and kids' new and exciting bedtime stories, as well. But, you might just clean up in the process, so give it your best if you're looking to get picked up as a creative writer. If nothing else, practice your writing with LOTL episodes and entertain while you gain your wisdom.
  5. Be creative and realize that you don't have to pick up where the series ended. Pick up after season one, or in the middle of season two. I personally didn't care much for the plot direction in season three. So, in my stories I conveniently forget a lot of the new characters and plot directions in season three. You can do this, or write every story about season three, if you so wish. It's up to you. Also, my stories will start with an "Episode 1" and work forward, giving a good, solid ending to each episode, yet continuing the stories like a soap opera. You can do this, or choose to just jump around all over the plot line and keep your stories all separate. I've read both, and enjoyed both. I just like writing in a series better. Although, I might write a rogue story here and there, who knows. Also, if you're not sure about punctuation or line breaks, don't worry, at all. That's what editors are for and people looking to hire writers won't take much stock in this.  :)
  6. Be brief, but don't skimp. A good LOTL short story length is about 6 to 12 pages in a word processor. But, if there are details or plot substance just too cool to leave out, by all means stretch it a bit. I'd rather take the time to read a good 20 page story than waste my time on a shelled out 6-pager. Likewise, I'd rather read a good 6 page story than 20 pages of dragged out details that bog down the story. And, I must say, these are just suggestions. Other readers might have a different view. I'll just say this. My opening story, "Frozen Moon" is barely 10 pages in my preferred word processor (OpenOffice Writer) with 12 font and standard spacing and borders, with 4,900 words before my final edit. My others may be 7 or 25 pages, you never know.
  7. Lastly, if you need a quick kick for inspiration, read my stories below to get into your Land of the Lost groove.  :)  Send your stories to LandOfTheLostOnline (at) gmail (dot) com
