Spencer Milligan
If you remember that original classic 70's show LAND OF THE LOST, you remember Spencer Milligan in his role as the dad, Rick Marshall, guiding Will and Holly through one adventure after another. Spencer's character fulfilled a need in many young families across the country. Fans, now adults with their own children are still interested in his wholesome appeal.
Recently the American Film Institute rated Woody Allen's movie SLEEPER one of the 100 funniest films of all time. For a good laugh rent it and look for Spence pulling out all the stops as a gender bender in gold sandals, silver medallion and white satin toga.
If you want to catch his more serious side surf the cable, you'll find him doing guest spots on T.V. shows such as GUNSMOKE, QUINCY, YELLOW ROSE, BARETTA, MC CLOUD and THE POWERS OF MATTHEW STAR where he enjoyed guest starring with academy award winner Louis Gossett Jr. Many of the movies of the week he co-starred in are there too.
In the eighties Spencer had the privilege of working with the Zucker Brothers and Jim Abrahms in their off beat yet highly acclaimed show, ABC's POLICE SQUAD. Among his 100's of stage, television and film roles Spencer's experience with drama and comedy runs the full gambit.
For the last decade he has been teaching, doing voiceovers and directing. You may have heard him as the narrator for THE AMERICANA NETWORK and THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA video series or you may have seen him in your favorite magazine in an ad for financial planning "he's the one on the left." It's all acting! So one is not surprised to find that right now, as we enter the new millennium, he is returning to creating quality entertainment for children, through a line of educational videos that hopefully will reestablish the integrity and honesty lacking in so much of children's programming today.
What comes across finally in all of Spencer Milligan's work be it directing a husband and wife team in two Tennessee Williams one acts, painting the metal roof on his 100+ year old barn in Wisconsin or reading an original play written by a young playwrite with Joe Mantegna and Ed O'Neil in L.A., is Spencer's ability to focus and give lOO% to the task.
He believes parents of today deserve support in raising their children and to that end, is working to create something that expresses the simple beauty of life. He aims for the essence and integrity of each project, in the moment, second by second. He was "LOST" but now he is FOUND and with all the talk of a LAND OF THE LOST feature, which has been optioned by SONY PICTURES, the possibility of him doing a cameo has been buzzing around the internet.
